THE cream of North East fashion talent shone last night with a stunning catwalk show ahead of Graduate Fashion Week.

More than 30 final-year students on the fashion design course at Northumbria University wowed a crowd of buyers, Press, industry heads and fashion fans at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art.

The catwalk show was held to celebrate the students final-year collections before they go head to head with other UK fashion students at Graduate Fashion Week in London next month.

Emma Jane Goldsmith, course leader, said all the students had worked extremely hard on designing and creating their outfits.

She said: Its been absolutely fantastic.

A lot of effort has been put into the catwalk show from lighting to music to projection to create a really amazing experience.

The staff and students have worked really hard and the models and everyone behind the scenes was fantastic too.

Its great to hold a show like this in an iconic building such as The Baltic which is used to displaying contemporary art but to hold a live performance here is brilliant.

All the students have worked incredibly hard on their collections.

And after this they are off to Graduate Fashion Week.

What has been displayed at the catwalk show is the result of a really long journey they have been on and it really showed off talents in pattern cutting, embellishment and saw a return to original craft skills.

It’s the year of big weddings and the Royal Wedding only set the tone for what came after .

After watching videos from Kims wedding, I started asking myself if the rule of not wearing white to a wedding is gone out the window, or if it’s just an artistic artifice Kim took advantage of since it was a black white themed wedding. The bride, Kim Kardashian, wore a white Vera Wang dress and the groom, Kris Humphries also had a white tux on.
